How to Control Diabetes

By Chester Clive at 2010-12-15 03:12:51
Okay, the question about the likelihood of falling into a coma must cross every diabetics mind. The good news is, you are not very likely to fall into a coma. The bad news is, there is a realistic possibility of such an occurrence coming about. Diabetes is a serious disease that affects millions of Americans, and that number is going to astronomically grow as the baby boomer generation ages further. Diabetes mellitus or more commonly known as diabetes is a condition where a person has a high level of blood sugar. This disease can have fatal Implications but it can easily be prevented. Type 2 diabetes afflicts millions of people around the world and the predominance is increasing due to sedentary lifestyle and other bad habits of modern life.

There is no standard diet for diabetes that all have to follow. What may work for your mother may not work for you. The best diet plan changes from individual to individual. It takes into account your present age, weight, blood sugar count, etc. Diabetes also causes your nerves to become damaged. In fact, one of the early symptoms of diabetes is a tingling sensation in your feet. This damage, which is called neuropathy, can actually hinder your ability to feel an injury to your foot. Bad diet or poor nutrition is a lifestyle that can cause health problems such as stress, constipation, malnutrition, dental problems, memory loss, overweight and diabetes.

People that lack proper nutrition can develop anemia, which can trigger fatigue. Insurance companies try to put limits on how often they will pay for testing, but often patients request that their physician appeal this decision. Echocardiography which takes images of the heart showed the obese volunteers with and without diabetes, had abnormal heart growth. Their hearts were beating harder to pump blood through the arteries, and the heart's chambers were not filling well between beats. Diagnosing diabetes and knowing what the symptoms are will help you to take control immediately. It is advisable to check with your doctor to make sure that you in fact have diabetes and not some other major disease.

It is important to note down why your normal blood sugar changed so dramatically, what caused it, by knowing this information you will be able to avoid the food, exercise or situation so that you can maintain your blood sugar at normal levels. Just try what works for you, whatever you feel comfortable doing. It is best to start out slowly and build up your exercise routine, remember this is not a one hit wonder. You need to develop a routine that you can do on a regular basis. It is vitally important for anyone with diabetes to have their eyes checked by an ophthalmologist at least once a year.

Having diabetes can bring about many changes in your lifestyle. You need to eat different and take medications in order to stay healthy and this may seem like a hamper. Even if you do not have the disease, you need to learn more about these diseases because they will help you determine if the symptoms you are experiencing right now is caused by this ailment. A recent study shows us that people who did aerobic training only or resistance training only, only lowered their blood glucose levels moderately while those who did aerobic and resistance training together showed significantly greater drops in blood glucose levels.
